Battery Life
The life of batteries is primarily defined by the following factors:
• Electrical loading
• Charging method
• Temperatures on charging, discharging and storage
• Quality of the cells Losses in capacity caused by incorrect charging are practically excluded with the Leosurvey chargers which have special switch off criteria to protect the battery. Reduction in battery capacity is normally due to age. However it can also be the result of storage at excessively low or high temperatures.
My new battery isn't working or charging. Is it defective?
New batteries come in a partially discharged condition and must be fully charged before use. It is recommended that you fully charge and discharge the new battery two to four times to allow it to reach its maximum rated capacity.
Also it is normal for a battery to become warm to the touch during charging and discharging. When charging the battery for the first time, the device may indicate that charging is complete after just 10 or 15 minutes. This is normal with rechargeable batteries. New batteries are harder for the device to charge; they have never been fully charged and so they are not “broken in.” If this happens, let the battery and device cool and then discharge the battery by using the device until it shows low charge again and then recharge to full.
Be sure never to leave a rechargeable battery at low charge for long periods, even during storage.
